I’ve just signed up for Mr Tweet, a service which helps improve your Twitter experience by putting you in touch with other users on Twitter. The recommendation it gives are based on your tweets, conversations and people you follow, so it’s a great way to find relevant conversations and engage with others on a similar grounding.

Have you ever wondered how old a domain is? Well, with the Domain Age Check tool you can find out. It works by looking up the domain you’re requesting in archive.org and netcraft.com. These two websites keep archives of what a website looked like at a particular moment in time, and the Domain Age Check tool will check how far back that history goes. They might not be 100% accurate, but they’ll give a close idea of how old they are. So if you’re looking for the age of that acne solution site you spotted yesterday; just pop it into the Domain Age Check tool and all your questions will be answered.

So what can you do if your site is loading slowly, well, you can look at what images are being loaded and what scripts your site loads. All these can be optimised to produce the best loading time for your users; and the quicker it loads, the better the user experience.

Live streaming implies that you’re filming an event in real-time and making it available to people online immediately. Have you played with Google Friend Connect? I’ve got it up and running on my main blog and it looks pretty cool. It lets people associate themselves with your profile and your blog and helps you get in touch with your visitors and friends.

The great thing about Google Friend Connect is that you can use it on any website you like; whether it’s personal blog or a sports website about MMA gear. All you have to do is sign up, download 2 files to your website and insert a piece of HTML in your web page and Bob‘s your uncle.

Version 2.20-G1, a pre-release version is now available for testing. This version is a drop-in replacement for sites running v2.01 with no additional changes required. Please test it hard and report anything that breaks (please do not send HTML formatted e-mails as our server will simply ignore them). Webalizer is a great stats package for the price (it’s free) and it’s a great way to keep up to date with what’s happening on your server, even if you only look at it once in a while. It’s as essential as men’s jewelry on a Ali G, if you get my drift
